My wife an I were meeting a friend for dinner and had gotten to the pizza shop before her. We ordered one of our favorite pizza from this particular restaurant. A large deluxe: pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, onions and green peppers.
Lynette and I talked as we waited for our friend to arrive. We both knew we needed to give the leftovers to our friend to take home, as she is out of a job right now and sometimes does not have enough food in her house. We both agreed that would be the right thing to do but were not very excited about giving away one of our favorite pizzas, that we would eat and enjoy for a couple days.
She arrived a little flustered at all that was going on in her life. We sat and talked and tried to encourage her that things will get better and God will take care of her. When the appetizer arrived we prayed as we normally do, that God would bless this food for His glory.
The manager brought our pizza out a little later and started to apologize. They had made the pizza without any pepperoni. He said, “This was a third grade mistake it is one of the first things that goes on the pizza. We are making you another pizza right now, that is correct. Please eat this one and we will give you the other one for free.”
I’m always amazed how God shows up in the smallest ways and answers our prayers. God fulfilled a need in our friends life by missing pepperoni. We were double blessed by giving and also receiving.
I know that through my life every-time that I have given of myself to help someone in their situation, I always feel blessed. This time I got PIZZA!
