Too many of us go through life on our own. We join groups to be a part of something but most of these groups leave us feeling empty. We long for a true connection with others. But we have been hurt in too many relationships and fear getting close and showing our true self. So we walk aimlessly with the crowd not knowing we can stray away from the safest places to be ambushed by life.
This is especially true in our Christian walk. The Scripture says in 1 Peter 5:8, “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.“
It is easier to stay alert when we have a band of brothers to keep us focused on the right path and that don’t let us go astray. For me going on my Emmaus Walk brought me into a group of men that helped keep me focused on the journey I’m taking. They were willing to hold me up and fight for me in prayer in the rough times and celebrate in the good times.
Don’t get caught alone. There is power in numbers.
