I love watching squirrels chase each other and play. They provide some great laughs and wow moments with their death defying leaps from branch to branch. Have you ever taken the time to watch the squirrels in your yard? They will leave an abundance of nuts to cross the street for the nuts on the other side of the road. It just doesn’t make sense when there is a stockpile right in front of them.
We act that way with God sometimes. He has blessed us with more than enough, but we chase everything the world tells us will make us happy. And in process of the chase for more, we get flattened. Flattened by indecision, flattened by the next big thing or flattened by our emptiness as we try to fill it with everything, but the ONE true source that meets ALL our desires.
The LORD will guide you continually and provide for you, even in parched places. He will rescue your bones. You will be like a watered garden, like a spring of water that won’t run dry.
Isaiah 58:11 CEB
His promises are clear, that we are more precious than gold. And He longs to be in communion with us. To share His great mercy and Grace with us.
Stop chasing, don’t be flattened…
